Phone as a Key (PaaK)

Phone as a Key (PaaK) is a technology that enables the use of a smartphone as a key. It allows the user to lock and unlock car doors and start the car with their smartphone. This means that there is no need for a car key or a fob anymore. The smartphone communicates with the vehicle via a wireless network, usually Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). PaaK makes it easier to access your car and share a car between multiple users.

Even though many car companies use this technology, the wording ‘Phone As A Key’ refers mainly to Lincoln. They use this technology in their Lincoln Way application in connection with their Aviator model.
