An eCall is an emergency call generated by a vehicle. The call can be triggered manually by a passenger or automatically by in-vehicle sensors. In case of an accident, it provides information to emergency services about the car. The information sent includes the location of the car, the exact time of the accident, and vehicle identification. eCall is mandatory for all new cars sold within the EU starting from April 2018.
