Theft Protection (TP) is a type of cover used in car rental. It covers the cost of replacing the rental vehicle if it is stolen during the rental period and may also cover damage caused during an attempted theft.
Most rental companies require customers to have theft protection. It can be purchased from the rental company, arranged through the broker, or provided by a credit card that includes suitable insurance.
In the event of a theft, the customer must report the incident to the police within 24 hours and inform the rental company for the cover to apply.
